Flame
Year: 2000 - 2023 (universe of origin)
Age: 0 - 22
Status: Not a ranger, not a villain, not publicly known
Flame was created after years of trial and error, failure after failure, unstable experiment after unstable experiment. She wasn't the very first stable and healthy dire wolf experiment that veterinarian & scientist Dr. Tomas "Tom" Kneesun Morow created, but Flame was within the first batch of successful experiments that they believed could think and reason like humans. Flame grew up knowing a drastically different version of her creator; he was cold, heartless, believed animals to not feel pain and not have emotions despite the countless cries of pain and fear from said animals. A Flame, somewhere down the line, will find out the reason for this change.Tomas' lab was known as "REC Labs," an acronym for "Reviving Extinct Creatures." The government was unaware of the immoral experiments such as Flame and the inhumane experiments she and others were put through. There were theorists, though, that nicknamed REC Labs "Terror Labs," referencing the terrors that lie behind securely closed doors. Though, all scientists on the team would deny the existence of experiments like Flame. All experiments that have ever been created by Tomas' lab have a branding, marking them as property of himself and his lab. This branding comes in a few forms; a dye, an actual burn branding, a freeze branding, an ID tag, or a tattoo. The version used depends on how publicly visible the experiment will be, as well as if the experiment has fur or not and how thick that fur is. Flame was within the highest level of security, as the public or government didn't know about the batch of experiments like her, so she was heat branded. The back of Flame's neck has a rectangle of scar tissue, within that branding lies a secondary branding reading out "REC LABORATORIES - EXEPR. # 5463 - AENCYON DIRUS - FEMALE - PROPERTY OF: - TOMAS K. MOROW." All other experiments have this same branding, though the experiment number, scientific species name, and sex all change depending upon the experiment.Flame lived in fear of the humans that had created her for years on end. Each year that passed that an experiment stayed alive, Tom had a mark freeze branded onto the hip of the experiment, marking how old the experiment was. If an experiment had two dots, they were two years old. If an experiment had five, they were five years old. Flame had seven of these dots. When she had gotten her fourth, she turned on Tom and bit him. After Tom healed, he put her through hell. For the last three years in REC Labs, Flame lived in a cage in Tom's personal quarters deep within the lab. He would personally experiment on her as he pleased, trying to figure out a way to take that bravery away, trying to figure out how to break her. He eventually had her trained where she would shrink away whenever he looked at her, whenever he smirked she acted as if she were already being experimented on, yelping in pain and fear. One day, while experimenting on Flame, Tom had made a mistake. He'd forgotten to fully lock Flame's cage when he put her away, an emergency calling for his presence in a rush. Flame knew that Tom hadn't properly locked her cage, and she had quickly took advantage of the situation and ran, using other experiments to cause a distraction while she escaped. Once she made it through the front doors, and then the front gates, she never looked back. She didn't even stop to investigate her new surroundings, she just ran. She was sore, still in pain, still had fresh wounds from the experiments prior to that hour and to that day.Flame didn't stop running until she was under the cover of trees, from there she didn't stop moving until she passed out. When she had awoken from her much needed and earned rest, she was thankfully still surrounded by green. She rose to her sore paws and continued traveling, even if her body screamed to her to stop and rest more. She knew she needed to find water, but had no idea where or how to find it, so she just kept walking forward. She also needed food, but this wouldn't be the first time she'd go days without a meal. Too many times Flame's kibble back in the lab had been laced with something that made her sick. She'd learned quickly that only a specific scent paired with the dry kibble was absolutely always safe to eat, it was the only way for her to survive back then. When Flame had heard rustling in the bushes, she bolted. She thought the humans had found her, thought that her freedom would be short lived and she'd end up back in that lab. Though, in her state, Flame was slow. Too slow. A young, large, rough looking blue wolf quickly had caught up to her, tackling her to the ground and growling in her face. Flame immediately panicked again, reacting to the danger as she did everything else that scared her in her life. She yelped and wailed, expecting a great deal of pain, eyes wide, ears pinned back to her head, form shaking in fear. Two other stranger wolves quickly appeared afterwards, a red toned wolf and a black wolf. The red wolf had immediately took pity upon Flame, telling the younger blue wolf to back off. The black wolf was less friendly, but still sided with the red wolf in the end. Flame would later learn the red and black wolves were the leaders of a pack named South River and were named Ruby and Emerald respectively. The young blue wolf Flame would learn to be named King and that he's the apprentice of Emerald.Ruby convinces Emerald to let Flame join the pack, as it's clear to her that Flame cannot fend for herself. Ruby knew Flame could never survive alone, not without training, and Emerald reluctantly agreed. Flame was brought to Blindeye, the pack's remedy wolf, for evaluation and to get her patched up. Blindeye then told his leaders and the new member of the pack about a prophecy with an unknown end, and that Flame would play a major role in it. But first, Flame would have to recover, and Blindeye told Ruby to take Flame to the Elder's den.Flame remained in the Elder's den for two years, learning from the old wolves that spent most of their time there, listening to their stories and always asking questions about pack life as she recovered from her old life and adjusted to her new one. The more she healed and the more comfortable she got, the more she'd wander. Eventually, Blindeye gave Flame another evaluation and deemed her healthy enough to take on being mentored.Ruby insisted upon being Flame's mentor, and Flame learned quickly from her. Flame spent a year and a half training under Ruby until a cruel rival pack, East River, raided the den site. That day, after aiding in successfully defending the den site, Flame was made a full member of the pack. One day, on one of her solo patrols, Flame found a strange metallic collar and put it on. The cold on the bare, scarred skin on the back of her neck was uncomfortable at first, but having that scar hidden gave her a confidence she hadn't felt before. Flame had returned from her patrol not only donning that shiny new red metal collar, but carrying a decent amount of prey with her.Upon her return and seeing the collar, the pack was outraged, claiming Flame had turned to domestication. Collars were a sign that you were owned by a human, but Flame explained that there was a mark on the back of her neck that she wanted to hide using this collar. It hadn't been given to her by a human, she simply found this strange metal collar out on patrol. She came across no humans, rival packs, or rival predators while on patrol. Ruby and Emerald trusted Flame's word, as her scent checked out. There was no human scent on her or the collar, though the collar did still smell strange.A few months later, Flame found a portal. Here, the multiverse split, which Flame will learn about later. The original Flame didn't enter the portal, but the split Flame did, leading to another split. The portal brought one Flame to the Pokémon universe, where that Flame became a Pokémon trainer(and three other universes spawned from different points here), and the other split Flame was taken to the DC Universe, arriving as an odd feline-like creature at a place called Ferris Aircraft. These Flames would later be known by one particular Flame as "Trainer" and "Mechanic" later on.As Flame grew stronger, she came across another wolf that looked similar to her. At first, Flame was friendly- albeit weary- of the other wolf, but quickly turned to fear and aggression as the other wolf attacked. Flame had no choice in the fight but to kill the stranger wolf unless she wanted to die. A few weeks later, another one showed up; different but the same, and the same thing happened. Both had reeked of the same, terrifying scent of her old life too. Here, a few months after the first portal, another appeared and another split occurred. The original Flame once again remained in her home universe, and the split traveled through the portal. This split Flame is taken to Asgard in the Marvel (Cinematic) Universe. She's taken in by the royal family in this universe and grows closest to Loki. This split Flame gains the title of Goddess of Instinct and Goddess of The Hunt, and later gains the title of Goddess of Battle when protecting Loki from a frost giant attack. In this attack, this Flame also loses her wings in Paleonem form, as she needed the speed and the plasma of the species, though Loki and Frigga both try their best to save her wings for her. This Flame would later come to be known as "Queen Flame," as she rises to be the Queen of Asgard alongside her king, Loki. With the original Flame, months later, Emerald died in a brutal battle with East River on the borders. East River Alphas Bone and Marrow had joined their pack on a raid on South River's den site, successfully being driven off but gravely wounding Ruby in the process after having killed Emerald. Laying in Blindeye's den, Ruby had broken code by appointing Flame as the new alpha of South River with her dying breath, sending the pack into outrage once again. Many wolves, especially some of the elders, thought Flame being the new alpha of South River would spell doom for the pack. This was against everything they knew. Flame assured them that she would honor Ruby's wishes and try to carry on her mentors' previous goals to the best of her abilities. She was honored to be able to lead the pack that had shown her kindness and had saved her life.As Flame led the pack, leading to successful counter raids, counter attacks, border fights, and countless successful hunts, Flame continuously gained more and more respect from the pack. In secret, Flame trained on her own, later finding her collar can allow her to shift to two other forms; a long-legged winged reptilian-like form that could breathe plasma, and a lion-like form that was about as large as her normal form but had much better speed. Alongside these new abilities, Flame also discovered the ability to travel the multiverse with the collar, going exploring far beyond her pack's boarders every now and again.Flame was later attacked by a similar-looking wolf for a fifth time, but this time in another universe. Again, she killed the wolf, but this time immediately went home to South River. As Flame traveled, she learned about the multiverse, finding that universes split off from her decisions, big and small. She doesn't know their lives, or their names, but she knows of her few(at this point) alternates' existences. Flame still had so many questions about the multiverse, though, so she continued to travel when she could, looking for answers. In one universe, Flame would find later a split occurred. Both Flames were jumped by the same group of possessed humans, but the original Flame had lost, being pinned down by the humans that had attacked her and her wings brutally chopped off. The split Flame won this fight and returned to South River, vowing to no longer travel the multiverse unless absolutely necessary. This Flame would later be known as "Alpha," as she never follows the same path as the others and remains Alpha of South River to this day.The original Flame was healed by an angel in this universe, after she had been left for dead by the humans. Later, she learned a split happened when she got to her feet; one where the angel taught Flame about the universe and that version of Flame stayed, and another where, once healed, Flame got up and fled the universe, going into hiding in another universe that wasn't her home. The Flame that had stayed in that universe where she lost her wings began hunting for those humans that had taken her wings, having been told by the angel that they were demons possessing humans. The Flame that had stayed in this universe would later be labeled "Hunter" among the Multiverse. The original Flame, the one that fled, stayed in hiding for a year before coming out. While Flame was in hiding, she questioned what she was now since she could no longer shift forms. She was no longer a wolf, so what was she?Once Flame had left hiding, she was once again attacked by a human. This one was not possessed like the ones that had taken her wings. Flame struck back, fighting and killing the hunter. This made another split in the multiverse; in one universe, something clicked within the original Flame's mind. She reasoned that, since she feared humans for so long, she would make them fear her. In the split universe, something snapped in the split Flame's mind. Both Flames were cold, out for human blood, hopping from universe to universe and slaughtering any humans that dared to take aim at her or cross her path, but they were also still drastically different. The original Flame was cold, yes, but she didn't take her time when killing a human. She made it quick, as killing humans was only to aid her in making humans fear her. Especially high profile humans that would cause the most fear and panic in one kill. She didn't draw out the death, she didn't make a show of it. But the split Flame did.The split Flame was far colder than her original, sadistic, taking pleasure in seeing each of her victims suffer. She was cruel, heartless, enjoying drawing out her victims' deaths. She'd use any method she could in order to get humans close to her, feinting wounds, playing dead, even faking being friendly with some humans, lulling them into a sense of false security before taking their lives. The split Flame would target anyone that looked even remotely human, though she left young humans alone, believing they have the potential to change. Another split occurred when this split Flame arrived on a planet that had odd looking "humans," and she later hopped to the same universe's Earth. Here, The split's split gained a ring, and then later another, where the original split Flame continued to travel the multiverse, having not traveled to Earth like her split.Eventually, the original Flame and the ringless split Flame met and got into a fight, and the original Flame had some sense knocked into her. The split Flame would go on to continue killing humans while learning specifically about all her alternates, making it a side goal of hers to keep all her alternates in check. This split Flame would go on to be known through the multiverse by each Flame as "Pre-Stepdown," or "Prestep," and all Flames would learn that Prestep's presence in that universe spells disaster for that one or another. She later learned that her split, who she'd nickname "Lantern," also had multiple splits as well. The original Flame returned to South River after the fight with her alternate, her previous goals of inspiring fear in humans being dropped slowly as she walked the territory. There was initial relief and outrage upon Flame's return to South River, some wolves relieved to see their alpha back after a year missing, regardless of her form, and others disgusted and outraged that she reeked of human and was feline- though the outrage quickly dissolved into fear once they realized it was human blood that Flame reeked of. They had no idea what had become of their alpha in the year, but it scared them.
Flame stepped down that day, saying she was no longer fit to lead a pack after she'd taken so many innocent lives, human or not. She also noted that she was led to believe the pack needed her to survive, since that's what their god, The Nova, had said, but upon her return she found that South River was fairing just fine without her. Flame told them she felt lied to, that she felt used and betrayed, and that she would be stepping down and leaving. They didn't need her, so why should she stay and lead a pack that doesn't need her when she's better off on her own. Some wolves were excited to see Flame finally step down and leave, while others were indifferent, and a small group devastated.Blindeye had one last conversation with Flame on the borders before she left the territory for the last time, telling her that he was sad to see her go and he always had high hopes for her. He told her that she hasn't let him down by renouncing the alpha title, but he's actually glad she did. He told her about the open-ended prophecy he had gotten all those years ago about a scrawny fiery-pelted pup that Emerald and Ruby would stumble upon, and said that he believes this is part of it. He said that the prophecy said "The fire would grow strong, then dim, but not die," connecting it to her time as an alpha to the fire growing strong, and then Flame stepping down to the fire dimming, but not dying.Flame had asked Blindeye what the prophecy said next, and he told her it had said "The fire would crawl to places unseen and later return with a vengeance, roaring back to life." The old wolf said he isn't sure what it means yet, as he was off with his interpretations of prophecies relating to Flame before. He said he assumes that Flame will return once she's found herself, possibly when South River is threatened, but it's so vague he's not entirely sure other than it's about her. Flame thanks Blindeye before saying her final goodbye and leaving the territory and then that universe.Soon after Flame had left her home universe, she met the final clone of her; Kelsie. The two go toe to toe for years, Flame refusing to kill Kelsie like she's killed the other clones of herself. Kelsie has told Flame that their creator has put a tracker on her heart, and if her heart stops beating- if Flame kills her- their creator will come. Flame now travels the multiverse, looking for a place to belong, running from her clone, and always thinking about that final prophecy and what it could mean.
Notorious
Year: Fuck if I know (R&C Universe)
Age: 22 - 32
Status: Former ranger, known villain, publicly known (under the wrong name)
After Flame's travel, she found herself in the Solana Galaxy, in the midst of a battle between the early Galactic Rangers an an enemy she didn't care to learn the name of. All she cared about was she was in the middle of a battle and she had to pick the right side. She had managed to get the information she needed by overhearing the rangers talking about the enemy they were fighting. After convincing the rangers that she was on their side by both telling them and aiding them in defeating their enemy, Qwark was outnumbered three to one on Flame joining the team. In retaliation, Qwark decided to place Flame in the support role with Dr. Nefarious despite Flame's clear battleworthy skills. While acting as support, specializing in battle planning, Flame was just as mistreated by Qwark as Nefarious was, causing her and the doctor to grow close due to their similar troubles with a particular teammate. That, and the fact that despite the two other rangers that are consistently on the battlefield had voted in her favor, they also mistreated her. Dr. Nefarious soon became the only person on the team Flame truly trusted, and as such she'd slowly opened up to him about her past.Flame was no stranger to unruly packmates, having lived once with wolves that were not unlike what she dealt with within the Galactic Rangers. And she had told Dr. Nefarious as much, as well as it frustrated her to no end that they just would. Not. Listen. They had put her in a position where they were supposed to listen to her, and then they don't. They wanted her on the team, then don't allow her to work. She had led countless successful battles prior to joining the Galactic Rangers, she knew what she was doing, and yet they just don't care.Towards the end of her and Nefarious' time as the Galactic Rangers' support system, Flame had told Nefarious about her origins. Told him that she was an experiment, and little parts of what she'd been through. Nobody else on the team knew, or would know- at least, that had been Flame's plan. She only trusted Dr. Nefarious with such sensitive information about her, and yet somehow that same day, when Flame hadn't left Nefarious' side at all, Qwark still knew about Flame's past. Before, Flame simply disliked Qwark. Now, when he'd spat that she's just some laboratory experiment and everything special about her came out of a bottle, Flame hated the man. The subsequent anger Flame showed upon hearing the insult would be the first time of many that Qwark managed to bring such rage out of her.The team was not new to seeing Flame's anger. They have all seen her upset before, they've all seen her tail lashing, fur bristled, ears pinned, lips drawn back to bare her teeth, already long claws unsheathed, and usually this was on the battlefield or to intimidate an intruder. But this anger she showed when Qwark had used Flame's past against her as an insult- this made even Dr. Nefarious try to talk Flame down. This rage she displayed was raw, pure, and if Nefarious hadn't made a move to hold Flame back when she had started to charge a plasma bolt and prepare to lunge, Qwark likely would've been a headline on the news for a far different reason than he normally is.In the following weeks, Dr. Nefarious made his move. Before, Flame wouldn't have been on board with the plan to attack unprompted, but after Qwark had not only used her past to insult her but also admit to eavesdropping on her and Nefarious' private conversation in their own office, she was entirely on board with his plan to strike Alteero City on Kerwan. Though even with two expert battle planners, Qwark's stupidity and brute force managed to overcome everything Dr. Nefarious and Flame had thrown at their old team. With the pair now known enemies of the Galactic Rangers, both were imprisoned. While in prison, Flame found out that she was nameless and Qwark had claimed credit for the victory of the battle she helped them win when she'd first met him and his team. She also found out that Qwark referred to her as "Nefarious' pet" the news had given her a name; Notorious. When Flame and Dr. Nefarious finally escaped prison, both were to have said to have perished during the jailbreak, but that was a lie.Dr. Nefarious and Flame both return, working under Chairman Drek, Flame no longer sitting idly behind a screen at a base, but rather always actively on duty. Always by Dr. Nefarious' side, acting as his bodyguard. For the majority of the time the two were working for Drek, remained quiet and kept a cold and distant personality, adding to her intimidation. Nefarious had said this was only a temporary job, and so Flame made no effort to bond with Drek or any of his men.Of course it wasn't long before Nefarious and Flame had stood on the battlefield against Qwark again, and this time Flame was determined not to lose. But for this battle, two newcomers had joined. A Lombax and his little robot friend. Flame personally paid no mind to them; she had no quarrel with them. They were not the ones who used her past as an insult against her. Qwark was. So, he was her focus- until the Deplanetizer started to tilt and throw the battlefield off. Flame's focus had shifted as the weapon did; instead of focusing on Qwark she focused on Nefarious and, surprisingly to the duo, Ratchet and Clank's safety. When asked quickly as to why she helped them get on their feet even though they were enemies, Flame said simply that she has respect for all foes she faces in battle- unless they insult her using her origins. A not-so-subtle nod at how Qwark had wronged her.Once Nefarious, Ratchet, and Clank all were stable, Flame's focus shifted again back to Qwark, leaping from where she'd helped Ratchet and Clank get to over to where Qwark was hanging on to keep from falling. She had been just about to force him to let go of the pipe he was holding on to when she had been struck by a blast from one of Ratchet's weapons. As Flame struggled to get to stable ground once again, Nefarious had summoned his newest weapon, the R.Y.N.O, just as Qwark grabbed one of Flame's hind legs and threw her across to another platform, away from the four. She landed, roughly, clinging on to the edge of the platform to keep from falling off. Though, she hadn't been able to pull herself up quick enough and get back to Nefarious' side before Ratchet had hit him with his Omniwrench, sending the doctor falling into the center of the Deplanetizer.Flame had hopped a teleport out of the Deplanetizer with Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark, and then once Ratchet's motion sickness had worn off and she'd gotten control of her own, Flame immediately began begging Ratchet to take her down to Umbris' surface. At first Ratchet and Clank both declined, saying that there's no way Nefarious could've survived the crash and that they were arresting her, but Flame insisted; let her go down, let her see, let her look, let her know for sure instead of worrying, and then they can do whatever they wanted with her. Finally, after some discussion with the rest of the Galactic Rangers, they agreed to take her to the crash site of the Deplanetizer. Reasoning that, worst case scenario she disappears on the planet; she has no building skills and there's food there. ...Probably. It could serve as a prison for her if they lose track of her. Nefarious was absolutely dead, there's no way he could've survived the crash, so Flame would be stuck there. Cruel, but, she did just help a supervillian. Again. When they land, just as Clank had predicted, Flame bolted and then she was just gone. The door hadn't even opened all the way before she'd scaled it, squeezed through the gap that was slowly continuing to become larger, and just took off. They didn't bother following her. Qwark suggested saying she died in the crash, or that she was an unstable experiment and just. Poof. Melted down or something. And that's the story Qwark would tell; an epic final battle against Flame, a bolt from his plasma gun, and her own powers became unstable and she died in a plasmic fire that started from within her. Grusome? Yes. An epic tale that's blown out of proportion, exaggerated, mixed with lies, and makes Qwark look like the hero that saved the galaxy from an evil, aggressive, plasma-breathing cat that was a mad scientist's loyal bodyguard? Absolutely. But while the galaxy believes Flame and Dr. Nefarious are both dead, they are very much alive and well. ...For the most part. Flame was alive, and physically she was well, but mentally and emotionally she was not. She had been hunting for her friend at the crash site for days, scared she was too late, scared he actually didn't survive, scared she wouldn't find him- and scared that if and when she did, that what she'd find would give her a new reason to fear sleeping. Dr. Nefarious had been one of the three that voted against Qwark to get Flame on the team, he had been the only sensible one on the team, the only one who actually thought before going into a battle, and the only one she trusted with knowing her origins. She was terrified she just lost someone she'd grown so close to.When she finally found Dr. Nefarious, she didn't recognize him at first. But as soon as he made the smallest questioning hum when she'd made her presence known, Flame had recognized his voice and immediately rushed to him, pulling him into a hug. Dr. Nefarious and Flame sit and talk for a little bit; he said he's changed- obviously, he was no longer an organic like she was. Flame told him, assured him, that she didn't care. He was alive. She didn't care that he was a robot, she only cared that her friend and packmate was alive. As they continued to talk, as Flame reassured again and again that she's just glad that Nefarious is still alive, exhaustion slowly finally started to take hold of Flame, and she soon finds herself curled up by Nefarious' side protectively and finally getting some sleep.Nearly a year later, Dr. Nefarious and Flame make their return. This time, instead of Flame guarding Dr. Nefarious, she was leading armies of tyhrranoids for him. Until the Galactic Rangers had stepped in, Flame's attacks had been successful. On her down time she was with Nefarious in his star cruiser, the Leviathan, watching his favorite HV series, Lance and Janice, along with any new episodes of a new show he enjoyed; Secret Agent Clank. Flame found it interesting that Clank went on to be a star in his own show. Honestly, she admired and respected the little robot; he was capable, clever, and when he's teamed with Ratchet the two are a true threat on the battlefield. While leading an attack on Veldin, however, she was finally forced to call the troops back. For a while, Flame and her armies were overwhelming the Galactic Rangers, Qwark not around to brute force a win through stupidity. But then Ratchet and Clank had showed up and they turned the tides in the Galactic Rangers' favor. Regretfully, Flame called her troops back before too many could be lost, the victory going to Ratchet and Clank that day. But her next attack- oh her next attack. It was unseen, coming out of nowhere. While the tyhrranoids had attacked the surrounding areas, drawing the fire of any defense forces near-by, Flame herself breached the presidential compound and attacked the Solana Galaxy President directly.Of course, Ratchet and Clank showed up again, but this time Flame didn't yield so easily. She took them on herself, and had been sent limping away from the battlefield. Flame returned to Nefarious' star cruiser to (literally) lick her wounds, resting for a period while watching more episodes of Lance and Janice and Secret Agent Clank with Nefarious. But after she was feeling better, Flame was back to leading attacks. On one of her breaks, Flame was back on the Leviathan with Nefarious, getting some long-needed and earned sleep. During which, Flame was awoken by Nefarious' yelling. Immediately assuming a threat when she'd woken up, Flame leapt from where she was laying, but froze upon seeing Nefarious glitching out. Panicked, Flame looked to Lawrence for answers, and he calmly explained to her what was going on. Nefarious had just gotten so angry he'd overheated, and for some odd reason began playing an episode of Lance and Janice.Accepting the answer but not liking that it happened, Flame asked why Nefarious was so angry- before Lawrence promptly slapped Nefarious and continued talking as Nef continued his previous sentence before he froze. Lawrence explained that Qwark led an attack on the supposed impenetrable base on Aquatos, to which Flame had a similar reaction as Nefarious upon hearing Qwark's name. Though, instead of freezing up when angered, Flame instead paced as she spat insult after insult to a man that wasn't present in the room, hackles raised, tail lashing, teeth bared, and ears pinned. Poor Lawrence just had to sit through the two's rantings, only chiming in calmly with new information when the two seemed to run out of breath.Lawrence explained that Qwark has assembled a new team, named the "Q-Force," and Flame and Nefarious both had similar reactions. Nefarious went off about annihilating, eradicating, and destroying the Q-Force, while Flame went off about how Qwark was not fit to be a leader- not for the Galactic Rangers and not for the Q-Force, and that she was going to kill him herself. She continued to rant about him being a leader of any kind is an insult to her and other leaders like her, current and former. Nefarious, of course, soon joined in on Flame's rant, agreeing with her, adding in his own opinions, and she of course agreed with him. While the two were now ranting to each other (thankfully), Lawrence silently left the room to continue his to-do list. After the two calmed down, Flame led an attack on Blackwater City. And just like before, she was winning until Ratchet and Clank arrived. The two turned the tides of battle once again and forced Flame to call her troops back. Wounded, Flame once again heads back to the Leviathan, opting to clean herself up enough so Nefarious or Lawrence wouldn't worry too much about her as she limped around the star cruiser. Luckily, she didn't come across Nefarious while on her walk, but she did cross paths with Lawrence once. They stopped and shared a few words before continuing on their ways. Unluckily, though, Flame crossed paths with a newcomer to the star cruiser. At first, Flame thought the newcomer was an intruder; Flame only knew about Nefarious and Lawrence being allowed on the Leviathan, but Flame soon found out that this stranger was named Courtney Gears and that she was actually working with Nefarious. ...And that Courtney hated her because she was an organic. It hadn't taken long at all for Courtney to start throwing insults at Flame, saying all she was is a worthless organic, that she'll always be beneath Nefarious, that he'll never see her as anything more than a pawn, a tool. Flame had tried to counter Courtney's insults with something that she thought might hit hard, telling Courtney "At least I have his trust," but it seems the robot pop star didn't care about having Nefarious' trust. Courtney quickly countered with "At least I have his heart," following up by saying that he's her boyfriend, and that Flame will never have what she has. Flame oddly found herself greatly hurt by those words, and confused as to why she felt so hurt. Nefarious was a trusted friend, one she'd trusted with her origins and that she'd trust with her life. He was just a trusted friend of hers, that's all. ...Right? If he was, why did she feel so hurt that someone else was his mate?
The next time Flame saw Ratchet and... "Clank," as well as Qwark, she... Wasn't herself. She was by Nefarious' side, as usual, but even when Nefarious had greeted Qwark and the two threw insults at each other, Flame didn't stand from where she lay. Even when Nefarious called for the initiation of the Leviathan's self destruction, she didn't stand. She didn't panic as Nefarious called for Lawrence to teleport them out of the star cruiser. Part of her expected to be left behind, she was just some lowly worthless organic, but she was teleported out of the ship alongside Nefarious.During the small break they had, Nefarious tried to talk to Flame. Asked her what was going on, why she didn't immediately get up and get aggressive when Qwark was in the room. Flame dodged the questions; just saying she wasn't feeling good. Though, that didn't stop her from leading the attack on Metropolis when asked. Nor did it stop her from then staying by Nefarious' side when finally confronting Ratchet. But once Flame and Nefarious were alone again, he once again tried to press for answers. Why wasn't she as active? What was wrong with her?Courtney Gears entered the room as Nefarious continued to try to get answers out of Flame, interrupting his gentle and concerned questions with a cruel and dismissive "Just hit her with the bioblitorator, that'll fix everything that's wrong with her." Which prompted Nefarious to get sharp with Courtney, picking a fight with her about Flame. He won't dare take aim at her with that machine, she's far more valuable as she is now than if she were altered in any way. Though both Flame and Courtney had noticed the pause just before Nefarious had said Flame was valuable, as if he wanted to say something else. But before either could comment, Nefarious continued, saying Flame was safe from the bioblitorator, and if anyone dared try to use it on her, he would personally annihilate them. After sending Courtney away, Nefarious reassured Flame that she was safe, that nothing he does, nothing he has planned, would ever hurt her, he wouldn't let it happen. To further ensure her safety, Nefarious had Lawrence teleport Flame to a little unknown planet that he'd taken over. He knew it had shelter, food, water, and anything else Flame would need to survive there on her own. It was safe, well protected, specifically made years ago after he'd found out about her creator. Though, it would work now as a hideout for Flame.Nefarious had intended for Flame to be there for two hours. That's all. That's how long the defeat of the Galactic Rangers and the Q-Force would take. But it ended up being two years, because he was stranded with Lawrence on an asteroid after his defeat. Two long, lonely years. The defenses that Nefarious had put in place on and around the planet to protect Flame were breached at one point, a group coming to only investigate at first, but then once they had found Flame they captured her with the intent to to whatever shady galactic zoo would take her. It just so happened that the buyer they had was Emperor Tachyon in the Polaris Galaxy. Flame had managed to escape at one point, though with no knowledge of piloting ships she had no way to get off world without hitching a ride. Which she eventually did at one point, but even though she'd gotten off one world and got to another, she still had no idea where she was. After another two years of traveling from planet to planet, even learning a little about how to fly herself when in an emergency situation, Flame found herself on a rather lush planet. The pilot of the ship she was riding in said it was called "Vapedia." Though, she was hitching a ride with a known smuggler, and on the way to the planet's surface the ship was intercepted by a Lombax ship. Flame didn't recognize it, and the pilot seemed rather upset. Especially when he'd landed at the crash site and Flame was clawing herself out of the rubble. At first Flame and the stranger fought; though with what the stranger was yelling at her, Flame purposefully lost the battle with him after he was finished venting. That's when Flame took the chance to strike up a calmer conversation with the new Lombax, learning his name and talking him into giving her a ride.General Azimuth was nice to talk to, the two swapping stories of their lives and of their battles during the ride. And although General Azimuth found out that Flame was "Notorious," Flame assured him that she's not entirely what she's made out to be. This is not a battlefield, and General Azimuth was not her enemy, so she will not be attacking for any reason. She explained she has high respect for all she faces on the battlefield, and treats them as such both on and off the battlefield. ...Except for Qwark. Which, when asked by the General as to why Flame doesn't respect Qwark the same way she respects him, if both are against Nefarious and she's sided with Nefarious, Flame easily went on a rant of an explanation as to why she doesn't respect Qwark. She also explained that the man has no respect for anyone or anything around him, on and off the battlefield, which was why she was so close with Nefarious and why she was given the name "Notorious."After intercepting a distress signal, General Azimuth and Flame found themselves approaching what was clearly Nefarious' current base. Perhaps Flame got excited to see her old crush friend too soon, because the General had pointed out that Ratchet, Clank, and Nefarious were on a platform headed right towards the space station, and there wasn't much time before impact. When the General had opened the hatch to his ship to call out to Ratchet, Flame growled a simple "You better catch us." before leaping out onto the platform Ratchet was on when Azimuth had made a close flyby. Flame had moved quickly, grabbing Nefarious as Ratchet jumped off the edge of the platform himself, grabbing onto the general's ship. She couldn't pick Nefarious up- he was nearly twice her height and definitely too heavy for her to lift, but she could pull him over the edge with her. Which is exactly what she did, pulling Nefarious' unconscious form over the edge of the platform with just barely a moment to spare. It was a good thing Flame had explained herself to the General, because after seconds of freefalling, Flame and Nefarious both were hit hard by Azimuth's ship. It was a rough travel, with an unconscious nearly ten foot tall robot and a five foot tall lion thing on the hood of your ship, but the General managed. They landed on a planet Flame didn't even bother to ask either Lombax the name of, focusing instead on thanking General Azimuth for the save and then talking with Ratchet. The two caught up a bit, but then Flame shifted the conversation's focus to Nefarious. She asked him how bad he had glitched out this time, because she'd never seen him like this before. Ratchet and Clank both said it was bad, and that it was nothing like his normal glitches or freezes. She then asked the pair to help her get him at least awake and talking again, then they can be on their way and she'll owe them.Ratchet and Clank helped Flame restore at least basic functions for Nefarious; speech and mobility namely. And from there, Flame and Nefarious' paths separated from Ratchet and Clank's. The two pairs went their separate ways; Flame and Nefarious staying on the planet they'd been put on, and Ratchet and Clank going off to do their own things off world. Eventually, Lawrence found the pair, and they were able to leave the planet, too. They laid low for a while, until Nefarious had come up with a new plan. This time it didn't concern changing the past- he assured Flame of that, as when she asked about his previous plan, he explained all he wanted to do if he had gotten control of the Great Clock. One of the things he wanted to fix was Flame's past; give her an easier life, remove the traumas she'd faced, give her back her wings. Flame, though appreciative of how thoughtful Nefarious was of her even though she hadn't been by his side, had explained that if the Great Clock controls time for the universe, it is only bound to this universe, and would not affect her own. It wouldn't have aided him in that part of his goals. The new plan he had this time went back to basics; targeting Qwark.Nefarious said they were headed to Igliak, and that they'd lure Qwark to them with a bait he just couldn't resist. A reward. One for something he didn't do, on top of it. Of course, Flame was very much interested in the plan, still wanting to see the man suffer even after a few years had passed. Is she holding a grudge for far too long? Perhaps. Is it justified? Yes.Though while Flame thought Nefarious' plan was pretty sound, it backfired in a way none of them could've expected. Lawrence had fled as soon as things took a turn out of his paygrade. Which, while Flame doesn't need bolts herself, she does understand why Lawrence fled the battlefield. His job description did not include being eaten by a Light Eating Z'Grute. And honestly, neither did Flame's, but she also wasn't technically on Nefarious' payroll- which might be illegal on Nefarious' part but Flame genuinely isn't complaining nor does she care. She wouldn't know what to do with any pay she'd gotten. After the Z'Grute was defeated, Dr. Nefarious and Flame tried to leave, but were stopped by Qwark getting in Nefarious' face. Yelling about how Nefarious has done some underhanded things in his time but this one, for... some reason? Beats all, and that he was beginning to think there's not actually an Intergalactic Tool of Justice Award. And then Ratchet had sarcastically said "Ladies and gentlemen, your president," prompting Flame to finally ask; since when? How did this absolute dumbass become a president? Who the fuck voted for him? He was a terrible leader in the Galactic Rangers, how the fuck has he not been ran out of office yet and replaced???But as Flame and Ratchet caught up, thunder cracked, causing Flame to bolt to Dr. Nefarious' side as all eyes were on the sky. A large ship appeared through the clouds, Nefarious saying it wasn't one of his before the giant ship had reached out with one of its various arms and picked up the five. They awaken, captured, hanging upside down- for... the most part. Qwark was... Very tied up in the device holding him captive. They all manage to escape the facility they were held in, and Flame had wanted to split from the group and go off on her own with Nefarious, she didn't want to be around Qwark. Sadly, somehow, Ratchet and Clank had talked Flame into staying, citing that it was safer on an unknown world to stay with those you know and that chances of survival in general were higher if they all stayed together. Reluctantly, Flame agreed to stay with the group.Perhaps it really was a good thing, though, because the added strength and fire power from Flame aided in getting through their foes quicker. That, and she did feel safer with Ratchet and Clank on her and Nefarious' side. They rip through Ephemeris' forces, quickly finding a lead and reaching Dr. Croid's current lab. At first, Dr. Croid was interested in Ratchet, commenting on how he was a remarkable specimen of the species and that he had such a shiny coat. Then the man's eyes landed on Flame, and Flame was then the focus. Similar comments were made towards her, saying how she was such a prime example of a Paleonem and that it was a shame to see her wings had been removed. Yet, he still continued, saying that Nefarious, Clank, and Qwark had brought the two cats to the right place, handing Qwark a card in the process. The card stated his name, his two main professions, and that he was.... A Lombax Whisperer and Paleonem Obedience Trainer???Ratchet had tried to explain to Dr. Croid why they were all there, and that he didn't need a translator. But, all Dr. Croid had gotten from Ratchet's very clear and sure words was "I'm hungry," apparently, since the man stuffed a treat into Ratchet's mouth and patted him on the head. Flame had stepped in then, standing protectively in front of Ratchet and tried to explain the situation again herself. All this earned her was praise for already knowing "speak" and a treat shoved into her own mouth when she'd tried to protest. While Dr. Croid then turned his attention to Dr. Nefarious, complimenting his training skills and asking about Flame's history, her age, her specific breed, and his plans for her future, All of which Nefarious tried to ignore while he worked on finding a lead to get to Ephemeris. Eventually he does find that lead, interrupting Dr. Croid's ramblings about his recommended care, training, and enrichment for Flame to alert the rest of the team he'd found something.Nefarious had found where Ephemeris lands to charge, and after some more crazy unneeded mistranslations from Dr. Croid, the five left to get to the location that Nefarious had found. After some more trials in their path, they finally reached Nevo, who seemed extremely panicked. That is when the five had met the true enemy of this trip. Of course the little thing that triggered Flame's prey drive had to do an evil monologue. Twice. Because of course it'd be twice, between battles, because why not. After the fight, and after Dr. Nefarious had backhanded their enemy into the afterlife(literally), things quieted down. Of course, though, Nefarious being Nefarious, as soon as he was presented a chance to up and leave he took it, picking Flame up while Qwark was monologuing about the little adventure they'd all just been on and hopping into Cronk and Zephyr's ship. They took off, Lawrence piloting the ship, and eventually settled down in a nice little town where nobody knew who they were for a few years. For a while, Flame and Nefarious relaxed at their new home, giving up the "evil supervillain" life. Nefarious had even guided Flame on finally fixing the glitch he's got, and while she was fixing that he had guided her on fixing the scar he'd gotten from Ratchet years ago. They were happy together, loving their nice little home and easy lives, even realizing that they were in love with each other. Nefarious had even replaced Flame's old branding from her creator with his own mark, by his own claws. But that calm, domestic life only lasted until Nefarious had heard about the Dimensionator being repaired. With Flame's collar busted and no way to repair it, the only multiversal traveling device available was the Dimensionator. So while he waited for it to be repaired, he and Flame were both searching for a specific universe.Flame didn't tell Dr. Nefarious her own plan, but assured him it was harmless. She had wanted to surprise him with taking him to her universe of origin; she'd seen his universe, seen his worlds, places he's been, but she hasn't been able to show him her old home. Hasn't been able to show him where she came from. Nefarious, though, was not shy about saying he was looking for a universe where he'd won. A harmless want, in Flame's opinion, to see a universe where one succeeds, just to see what happens and get some closure that perhaps it may happen in your universe of origin. Though, when Nefarious finally got his hands on the Dimensionator and the pair had finally ended up in the universe he was looking for, Flame begun to feel like maybe the idea wasn't so harmless. ...For them.
She hadn't liked the city she ended up in, getting the feeling that something was wrong about it. But, she didn't have much time to voice her opinions before Nefarious took the apparent throne of this universe, having been mistaken for his alternate that is native to this universe. For a while, Flame had wondered where Dr. Nefarious' alternate was, if he was the leader in this universe. Why was he not constantly in the leader position? Why was he absent? And a few hours after Flame had voiced her concerns about the so-called Emperor Nefarious' location, the robot in question made his appearance after Dr. Nefarious was beaten by a new Lombax. At least the Emperor's absence had given Nefarious and Flame the time to have some... Fun. If the Emperor ever found out what they did in his throne room- in his throne... Flame had no idea how the Emperor would respond. She knew Nefarious would be smug about it, though.Surprisingly, Dr. Nefarious yielded to his alternate when threatened by him, and his alternate didn't seem to care at all for Flame or her relationship with the doctor. The Emperor had treated her just the same as he had treated the Lombaxes at first; seeing her as lesser and as an enemy to be eliminated. Thankfully for Flame, Dr. Nefarious would correct this later and when Flame had finally tracked him and his alternate down, the Emperor allowed Flame to return to Dr. Nefarious' side despite her aggression. From there, as the events continued, Flame returned to her original role of Dr. Nefarious' bodyguard for a time, remaining silent and cold and by his side at all times. An attempt to intimidate the Emperor. When the Emperor threatened Dr. Nefarious and Flame's home universe, Flame changed sides and with her came Dr. Nefarious. Though, instead of Flame providing support for Dr. Nefarious in the battle, he was providing support for her while Ratchet, Rivet, Clank, and Kit laid down cover fire. Dr. Nefarious warned his counterpart before the battle begun that Flame is extremely territorial, and that he's not only currently in the borders, but had also just threatened to take over her territory. Of course the Emperor didn't take Dr. Nefarious seriously, brushing Flame off as just a "little kitten" and not thinking she had the strength to take him on.The Emperor ate plasma that day.Literally.After the battle, Flame and Dr. Nefarious had went into hiding. The pair had come out once soon after settling to visit Lawrence, his wife, and his newborn, but soon after returned to their little townhouse apartment in the planetary capitol city of Cania, located in the Pract Star System, a little nowhere planet that didn't know their names or faces. There, the pair would be able to relax until the next time they felt like stirring up trouble or the universe needed them. ...Most likely, they'd stir up some trouble.
